26 were booked for Xmas lunch at the Elburton Inn. I'd organised a ride through the South Hams that was hilly but with no up arrows - quite an achievement! Mince pies and warm mulled wine were to be on offer midway. It was with a heavy heart and heavier panniers that my husband and I cycled to the start in the pouring rain and high winds. Several were at the start; some in cycling gear but not intending to ride in such awful conditions, some in day dress ready for lunch and yet others prepared to ride! Yes, we had a quorum! There were 5 of us braving the conditions, which turned out to be not so bad. Near the end of the ride we were a bit early, so stopped at Otter Nurseries for a cuppa and met up with the tandem couple. At the Elburton Inn we just about filled the dining area, pity the poor couple who sat with us as the air burst with animated chatter and continued unabated throughout the meal.
