Three of us set out into what was to be another hot summers day. So after leaving Blunts we soon descended defibrillator hill on our way towards Bethany with much banter from Dave & Trevor. Mind you it seemed to dry up as the first hill was climbed, to Bethany. Then we turned left into the narrow lane that took us to the dreaded A38. But thankfully we only had a 1/4 of a mile or so before  turning off left. Now it was undulating all the way to Looe, apart from climbing up to the top of Bin Down (200m). What a view from the top. Here I posed for Trevor's camera with a field of mixed cattle behind me. Soon on our way again with much banter we soon passed through No Mans Land, then found ourselves descending a steep hill to our first cafe stop at Looe Beach cafe.
Soon suitably refreshed we left the ancient fishing port of Looe & headed out of town on the A387 to Sandplace & the quieter lanes to take us up the Liskeard to Looe valley to pass through St Keyne village. Dave said it had a school so it must be a village. Oh yes before I forget Trevor made it known he had not explored these particular lanes before. So that's another first. We soon found we had climbed up to the expressway to Dobwalls. Now going at full pelt we soon  passed through Dobwalls, & on to the minor road to Golitha falls for our main stop of the day. As usual it being Sunday the cafe was extra busy. Still we soon found ourselves gorging on massive slabs of fruit cake, washed down with coffee.
So after putting the world to rights we soon set off into cracking afternoon sunshine & high temp's. Dave departed our company just short of Minions, as he wanted to see how the end of the cricket match between England & New Zealand was going. So! soon after a bit more climbing Trevor & myself got stuck in to some real rough stuff, on the old disused railway from Minions to Pensilva. Trevor of course gave me the slip, as his machine is designed for on & off road use. He was waiting for me at the Pensilva end. So soon we were heading by metaled road  & descending towards St Ive, then across the main road to Liskeard before arriving at Blunts. Here I left Trevor who return home to Ivybridge by car. I continued home the most direct route avoiding main roads. Sometimes its not about the miles, its the enjoyment & good company. Thank you Dave & Trevor.
