Five of us turned up at Ivybridge Railway Station car park, Myself, Graham Black, Andy Prideaux, Andy Easton & Mike Bowden from South Brent. I was suffering from a knee problem which I`ve had for around 3 weeks and could hardly walk at times, so this was a test to see how I would cope cycling.
We set off heading for Wrangaton, Avonwick and back lane up to Marley Head this entailed our first hill and my knee seemed to be coping well. From Marley Head we skirted Harbourneford taking the lanes to join the road down to Dean Prior and then on to Buckfast Abbey for our first coffee stop. Andy E tucked into his first pastie of the day. Mike left us here to head back to South Brent, he did well for an 85 year old.
We set off up hill again and took a back track down into Buckfastleigh and here joined the Old Totnes Road towards the A384 to join it at Hood Manor school turning left over the old bridge crossing the Dart and on to our second coffee stop at the renamed "Bens Coffee Shop "( Riverford Farm Shop) By now the sun had come out to make a pleasant day.
Once refreshed and Andy E downing his Two cakes, we set off towards Staverton Bridge, here I took them off road through the woods to join the road to Dartington. We then crossed the A384 again and headed for Week and then Rattery and back through South Brent to return to Ivybridge..
A good day all round with my knee holding up well although now starting to ache a bit after 36 miles of a nice ride.
