Apologies from Sue, Anna, Bryan, Graham Black, Julie Lang.
At the start: Dave and Nycci, Graham Reed, Graham John. Trevor joined us as usual in Ivybridge and so did Andy Easton. There was some misunderstanding about the coffee break, Graham Reed going to the Farm Shop near Endsleigh, the rest of us going to Wrangaton. Unfortunately Graham decided to turn back after breakfast in the Farm Shop, so we did not have the pleasure of his company for the rest of the day. Nycci and Dave left us in Avonwick.
This was an ambitious ride for me and I clocked up just over 60 miles. I took a fairly easy route out to Start Point, arriving there at 1.30 pm. Diptford, Moorleigh, by-passing E Allington, Coles Cross, Stokenham, Moyson and on to Start Point. It was pretty cold and breezy and after a quick sandwich we started the return route, arriving in Loddiswell just before 4.30 pm and in time for some most welcome refreshments. The lanes from Start Point to Loddiswell concertinaed relentlessly up one exhausting hill after the other and I was glad to get to the relatively flat road out of Loddiswell to S. Brent. But by then I was already quite tired and unable to make good time. Andy Easton and Trevor deserve medals for their patience.
I got back to Plympton at about 6.45 pm, so Andy and I had a good chance to try out our lights. The temperature was 4 degrees C, so rather cold! A day-out on the bike is always a good one, but I have to say this run was more gruelling than most.

Well done Graham, a long ride but interesting route. Only three of us completed the whole ride mores the pity. We had a pleasent day of cloud and sunshine with no rain and arrived at Start Point car park to be greeted by a few intrepid dog walkers and a lovely vista of the bay streaching down to Dartmouth taking in Hallsands, Beesands, Torcross and Slapton Sands. Graham pointed the way to the lighthouse, as my posted photo shows, saying we had to go all the way down to prove we got here, ( evidence with Grahams opening shot) We had a typical South Hams ride back, lots of hills (lovely) to arrive at the Avon Valley farm shop just before it closed, but stiil lots of cake left. Andy decided to have a slice of the biggest cake on offer, about 4-5" tall to give him energy for the climb into Lodiswell. We then tested our lights for the ride back along the main road back towards Ivybridge thinking there would not be much traffic at this time of night, wrong.
I shot off just before Wrangaton to burn off what energy I had left, but waited at the roundabout in
Ivybridge to say my goodbye`s to Graham & Andy, but they must have been more knackered than I thought, so after waiting for 5 minutes with no sign I headed home. Sorry to have missed you guys.
