Present and waiting: Graham Black, Yoland, Andy Prideaux, Graham Reed, Graham John, Julie Lang, John and Jennifer Durham

We all waited with bated breath to see whether our leader, Graham Reed, would turn up. True to character, there was no presence at 9.30 am and the rest of us boarded the ferry, resolved to follow our own route to Pillaton.

Just metres from the shore, we spotted our leader. We hoped that a late and waiving Graham would dare the distance and swim to reach his waiting minions. By phone - and more sensibly - we arranged to meet up on the other side.

Off we went - me in the rear. Antony, Crafthole, Narkus (however that's spelt) and on to Trerulefoot by 11.15  am.  At Andy Prideaux's suggestion we headed for the quay at St German's.  Graham and Andy headed back for Plymouth after lunch.

We headed back up he hill we had descended and went under the A38 bridge to Cutmere. Thence to Blunts and a left to Pillaton, where Julie left us.

We turned left before the church - never done before - and ended up to the road to Amy Tree .

Afternoon tea was at Louis' on Kitt Hill. On the whole. the route back to Plymouth was agreeably downhill.

I had done 47 miles.
