Sundays ride turned into Mondays ride due to the high winds the previous day,so we all gathered at the Station car park, Myself & Wife, Graham Black, Ted Greenberry & Dave Newman. Dave and I where out numbered today by e-bikes, with Sue, Ted & Graham on powered bikes.
Off we set heading for Wrangaton then Avonwick, from here it was up to Diptford and the steep hill with Ted, Graham & Sue powering up leaving Dave & I to struggle up on our normal bikes. It was then up another long hill to Christone Cross, From here we headed for Moreleigh and then Blackawton. By now then sun was getting pretty strong and the climb up to Blackawton made us wish we had left of a layer. From here we headed up to the main A3122 Dartmouth road, turning right and on to the Garden Time - Garden centre for our first stop.
Once refreshed it was out and up to the Sportsman pub at Hemborough Post and turning left to head down to Cornworthy, taking in the beautiful all round vista as far as Torbay and beyond. We then followed the river along through Tuckinghay and on to the Watermans Arms at Bow Bridge.
It was beers all round, Myself ,Sue & Ted sat outside by the river but Dave & Graham where tempted by the roaring fire and took a while before they joined us outside.Ted accosted a women sat near us to find out the name of the river ( Bow Creek ) and then to take a group picture, giving her all the instructions to operate his camera. We where soon joined by a large group of walkers and there dogs, one of which looked like a wolf, the dog that is !!
Once we had downed our beers and had lots of banter, it was back on our trusty steads and heading for Harbertonford along the really lovely lanes with the spring flowers on the banks and hedge rows, we came across one stretch of about 15 yards full of Snowdrops. From Harbertonford it was following the lanes back to Avonwick, South Brent & Wrangaton. The ride back to the Station car park was hard going against a now strong 15-17 knots of wind, thinking we where glad we hadn`t done it on the Sunday when we had 45-50 knots of wind.
Saying our goodbyes to Dave and Graham after a good ride enjoyed by all with 36.7 miles on the clock
