There was a good turn-out for the start - Anna and Bryan for the 'B' riders, Graham Black, and for the 'A' riders: Dave and Nycci, Neil Crowley, John O'Rourke, Andy Prideaux, Andy Easton, Yolande Beriot, Mike Willacy and myself.

Elevenses was at the Farm Shop just before Buckfastleigh, where Andy Prideaux and Mike Willacy left us. The first big climb came on leaving Buckfastleigh and there was little remittance until we arrived in Holne, where we did not stop but ploughed on Combeshead Tor. Andy Easton and Yolande were in fine form and made for Hexworthy at breakneck speed leaving the rest of us ion the rear. John O'Rourke had a spectacular  puncture just before reaching Hexworthy (see photos). There was am almighty BANG! and when John removed the inner tube there was a four inch split down the middle of the tube. I went ahead and informed the rest. Andy and Yolande steamed ahead with instructions to get the tea in. Neil, Graham and I went back to give John some moral support.

It was only 2:30 pm when we arrived at the Foxtor Café in Princetown. It was too cold and windy to hang about and we headed for the Plym Trail. Neil recorded a top speed of 45 mph on some of the descents. The descent from Princetown was a well-deserved reward for the effort we had put into getting there and we arrived back in Plymton at just after 4:00 pm with a good 50+ miles on the clock. Everyone enjoyed the ride and we were already looking forward to next week, when we will be exploring the Tamar estuary and the vicinity of Cotehele.
