There was 4 turned up for this weeks ride, Myself, Andy P, Graham B & Dave Simpson who we meet on my South Hams Challenge - another Ivybridge man.The weather was a bit overcast but with the promise of brightening up later so we set off heading for Filham and the lanes to Ludbrook Manor, from here we headed for Shilston Barton the home of Devon Rural Archives (DRA) and riding through the grounds to pick up a bit of off road before joining the lanes again. It was then onto Leighmoor Cross and turning right to head up for the top road by Torrdown Plantation, turning left then first right it was down to Chillaton Cross and onto Aveton Gifford. Riding through the village to join the main road and crossing the estuary, at this point Dave S was panicking thinking we were headed up the big hill out of Aveton Gifford, but we took a left following the estuary road to Venn through Hatch and onto the main Kingsbridge road before turning left and headed for our first stop at the Avon Mill garden centre. By now we had blue sky`s and lovely sun so we sat outside enjoying our coffee.
Once refreshed we climbed the long hill past the old Loddiswell station up to Woodleigh, from here we headed for Preston, then descending the long hill to join the Gara Bridge road. It was then another climb out of Gara Bridge towards California Cross and in to the pub for a well earned pint.
After putting the world to rights over a pint we joined the "B" road to head back, rather than stop on the main road we hung a left just before Kitterford Cross and joined the lanes again and headed for Ennaton & Forder Cross. We stopped on the lanes all the way back to the Rugby club were we said our cheerio`s after 28-30 miles of nice sunny riding, but not to hot.
