Andy sent an email cancelling this weeks ride because of the weather, but Dave N and Myself decided to chance it and arranged to meet at Ivybridge Rugby Club. Just before leaving home got a call from Graham B asking where we were, as him and Graham R where waiting at Plymco - You must all get into the habit of reading your emails the night before a ride to make sure nothings changed. Anyway Graham piled both bikes into his car and they met us at the Rugby Club.
I planned just a short ride out to Avon Dam via the lanes through Owley, so we set off in dry weather. We turned left under the railway arches at Bittaford for a nice hill to start off, passing through Wrangaton we hung a left and started the climb up passed Owley with Graham R mumbling about the hills. When we arrived at Shipley bridge the tea lady had`nt set up her van yet, so we decide to take a scenic ride up to the Dam, and we started to get the Dartmoor drizzle, but it was on and off so a nice detour. Arriving back at the tea wagon the lady was all set up so we had some nice coffee/tea and cakes.
When we started to set off again the heavens opened so we sheltered under the canopy of the tea wagon for a bit longer. The showers although heavy only lasted for a minute or two, so when they eased off we climbed on our bikes and headed for Gingaford Cross and hung a right on the long decent through Lutton and down to South Brent. From here we headed the usual way back to Ivybridge, and we got of lightly with the rain and only got slightly wet with a nice 20 mile ride
