Seaton--- St Germans  27/1/19  Graham Black

It was a very windy cold day for the three of us at the start of the ride at the Torpoint ferry where the sea was so choppy we wondered whether the ferry would be running. To our relief the ferry was working and managed to get us crashing through the waves to Cornwall though at a slower speed. Heading firstly to Narkurs admiring the snow drops growing in the narrow lane embankments. In the village there was a large sign on one of the houses making a bovine statement about Brexit which must of caused some comment!
Continuing on and making the steep decent into Hessenford then turning left down the Seaton valley and then stopping at the beach cafe. On this occasion we sat inside to get away from the cold wind and to enjoy the warm atmosphere of dinners. Rested we continued on to the second stop of the day which was the Elliot pub in St Germans where there was a bit of a crisis going on because there had been a power cut and meant there was no hot lunches. This made us the sole customers only consuming cold liquids and getting the full story from the landlady of what this meant for her business.
After a pleasant stop we continued on to the final leg of the ride back to the Torpoint ferry, where I thought that we had been very hardy to have completed the full planned ride. Earlier in the day if a suggestion that we should cut short the ride due to the weather I would of agreed but no words to this effect was mentioned, so well done my hardy companions, David and Andy P.

Over 30 miles covered and another good day despite the weather.

Graham
