All 10 of us assembled at Ivybridge Railway station, 9 Plymouth members and 1 Exeter member. Rees. The Plymouth lot where myself, Andy`s P & E,Graham J & B, John Durham. Mike Willacy,Yolande, Neil Crowley who had invited his mate Rees from Exeter.
We set off heading for Wrangaton, Avonwick then turned onto the lanes heanding for Rolster bridge & Harbertonford on a beautiful warm sunny day. Then it was along the lovely valley to Bow bridge with the spring flowers filling the hedge rows. On arriving at the pub at Bow bridge was closed as it was only 11.30 so we went on to Tuckenhay & the Maltsters Arms which was open.We sat enjoying our coffee alondside the creek, Neil & Rees deciding it was`nt to early to hit the Lager. Two pints later we hit the road again heading for the Fast Rabbit Farm skirting Cornworthy towards Tideford Cross and up to Hemborough Post on the Dartmouth Road. Doing a dog leg and straight ahead down Batachmore Lane to Bugford Cross and then to Fast Rabbit Farm. This was a new location for me & the others, the previous day I had Googled it to check they had a cafe, and it said the Refreshment area was recommended, but on arrival no cafe, and we were told the nearest one was back up at Hemborough Post. Not wishing to go back up there I decided to head for Blackawton, after a small navigational blip we arrived at the pub. So two more pints of lager for Neil & Rees , myself, Andy P & Graham B decided beer was needed to quench our thirst, all served by a very cheerful ( Not) landlady who seemed of the attitude, what a cheek coming in my pub and ordering drinks. Still I think I detected a small smile as we left.
Graham John left us here needing to get back, Mike Willacy left us at Tuckenhay as he neede to get back to clean his windows. The rest of us headed off towards the main A381 Kingsbridge road and then Moreleigh, by now Neil & Rees had started to slow down a bit and on the road to Diptford told us to carry on without them.At Combeshead Cross we turned left down to Bickham Bridge and on to North Huish were we managed to lose John & Andy P who had gone on ahead and missed the turning I was taking for the back lanes to Ivybridge. On arriving back at the staion car park they rejoined us having had a small ride along the A38. I said my goodbye`s having clocked up 40 miles on the best day this year for warmth and sun.
