Anyway 3 riders turned up at the Hunting Lodge, Ted Greenberry, Graham Black & Andy Easton. After much discussion it was decided not to do my planned Slapton ride and to keep it shorter, so I suggested Chilli Farm and Lodiswell.
I led off along Ermington road and through Filham onto Strode and then on top road past Ludbrook Manor. We then hit the road past Pennymoor caravan site and onto Blackdown rings, here we took the road down to Hazelwood house were we hit our first shower of sleet and rain which was short, and then out came the sun again and treated us to a beautiful double rainbow. Ted bought us to a stop for photo shoot but found his batterys duff,so I had to step in.We then set off down the long hill to Hazelwood house and then up the back road to our first coffee stop at Chilli farm for drinks and lots of free chocolate.
Once we had warmed up and Andy had eaten his Chilli breakfast, we set off down the long hill to Topsham bridge.Having come across a lot off standing water I thought our original route which would take us on the back road to Averton Gifford, would be flooded.I decided to head for Preston and then onto Gara bridge.By now we hit our second shower, which lasted a bit longer before the sun came out again. We then cycled on to our next stop the pub at California Cross were we had a nice pot of tea and a warm wellcome.
Off we set again on the homeward leg, we turned off the B road and headed back past Ludbrook house and through Ermington and thence Ivybridge.
We where all glad we made the effort as it turned out to be a nice day but for two showers it was mostly sunny and dry, uptop if not down below. But its been a difficult call these last few weeks given the forcasts lets hope we have some dry Sundays ahead.
I clocked up 30 mile
