At the start was Graham Black, Andy Prideaux,Andy Easton, with Graham John putting in an appearence but decided not to do the ride as he was still pining for his motor bike which was still baffling his repairers. It was a cold day with the promise of showers, and as the sky looked very dark to the west, I decided to start with full foul weather gear,Graham Black donned his new super red cape and off we went.
We crossed the road to Filham then onto the outskirts of Ermington upto Ludbrook Manor, past Weeke farm and upto the Thatches caravan park. Then it was onto Blackdown rings down past Hazelwood house and up the long hill to the Chilli farm. There was quite a few people here with the kids running round doing a easter egg hunt.
When we were refreshed with our coffee and chilli chocolate,Andy Easton with his chilli breakfast. We set off again and down the nice scenic long hill to Topsham bridge passing the hedgrows full of spring flowers and early Bluebells. We progressed up some small hills to Preston Cross and then down the long hill to Gara Bridge and then payback long hill upto California Cross. Here we had our second stop in the pub which was packed with diners tucking in to their Sunday roasts. We came out to lovelly sunshine,so off came the foul weather gear with the hope of no more showers on a trip back to Ivybridge. Which all went to plan till the last couple of miles when the heavens opened again with drivng rain and high winds.
The day turned out not to bad ,a bit cold, 3-4 Showers of rain and hail.I think I judged the distance about right as my hip and back were starting to hurt again after my fall.I clocked up 26.3 miles so not a bad ride.
