'A' Riders - Mike Willacy, John & Jennifer Durham, Dave Newman, Andy Easton, Graham Black, Andy Prideaux, Bryan Richardson, Graham John
Ten out of ten, Mike, for a very inventive route! Nos Mayo has always been a favourite destination of CTC Plymouth and for years we have followed a fairly conventional route. Not this time, though. Mike took side-roads and back-roads into Nos Mayo which I think I had never been along. After elevenses at the Ship Inn we headed out along a lane I did not know towards Baltonborough Cross where Dave Newman took Andy Easton and others away to climb some challenging hills in preparation for his Lake District challenge. The rest of us carried on toward Holberton and waited for Andy and co. The two-chevroned hills never happened, because Andy had a massive puncture which forced him to curtail his extra ride. After lunch in or at the pub, we headed out on yet more unfamiliar and very steep lanes (via Ludgate) which ran parallel to, and west of, the Ermington-Ugborough road. They finally took us out at Woodvale Nurseries and a well-deserved tea. Not tired of hills, Mike took us along the back route to Lee Mill and then we joined the familiar three-hill drag back to Plympton.
Many thanks, Mike, for a brilliantly led ride.
