Leaving the farmyard aroma behind we set off again with the prospect of a long climb backup to the cycle path, but on consulting my map I saw a track that would cut out the climb, so off road we went. It turned out not to bad for the one`s with thin road tyres and we soon hit tarmac again and the cycle path to Totnes. In Totnes we picked up the cycle path to Dartington, once there we crossed the road onto another cycle path alongside the main Buckfastleigh road, we crossed this further on and down the hill to our second stop at Staverton garden centre café for more drinks & cake overlooking the river Dart.
We set off again crossing the old bridge over the Dart then over the railway crossing and turning left past Staverton railway station and back up to the A384. Turning left again to cross the Dart at another old bridge we then crossed the road and picked up another cycle path which took us up to the Rattery road . After some ups and downs and one long hill we hit Rattery. from there we headed for South Brent. Just before Harbourneford Andy & Neil left us to race back to Ivybridge as Andy had his birthday meal to go to. We carried on avoiding the nasty hill at Harbourneford, then through South Brent and then back to the cars at Ivybridge.
We had lovely sunny weather the whole day and clocked up 37 miles.
I did intend to publish a video of the ride but I must at some point pressed the wrong button and most of my footage disappeared into cyberspace. will try better next time.
