It was a great pleasure to see John Missen (Corinthians) at coffee. He's not been out recently on his bike and has just returned from a tour in Germany - Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden.
We followed the classic route to Kingsbridge after coffee under Andy's able leadership, essentially along the main Loddiswell/Kingsbridge road. Dave and Nycci left us at Loddiswell. We made good time and were ready for the return journey from Kingsbridge shortly after 1.00 pm, having stopped for lunch at the tennis courts. The little café there is much to be recommended - very friendly service and unctuous cakes. Jean and Trevor masterminded the return route, because no one was keen to travel along the A379 back to Plymouth and Andy was not yet up to speed with his new satnav (bought only yesterday from Certini). The route followed the A379 for a short while (steep) and then followed a lane (downhill) past Leigh Barton and along the River Avon to Aveton Gifford. The rest of the route took us across country for about a mile and on long, steep lanes to Thatcher, Ayleston Cross, Mary Cross and the familiar route through Ermington to Ivybridge and Plympton.
I had 40 miles on the clock on arrival in Plympton. The weather was still very mild and warm, though we got little sun today.
Graham Black, Jean Harris and Trevor Bradshaw, who have other commitments, offered their apologies for next week's ride.
